The Preparatory Choir is for children entering 2nd or 3rd grades, and auditions are not required to join. The purpose of the Prep Choir is to introduce children to the fundamentals of music within the framework of a performing ensemble. Children will be taught music, vocal and performance skills including posture, breathing, note-reading, diction and other essential techniques. The Prep Choir performs at the end of each semester in ticketed events in the concert hall. This ensemble serves as a wonderful introduction to the Chorus and provides a comprehensive musical foundation for its members. Once a child completes 3rd grade, they are eligible to apply to audition for the Concert Choir. The Prep Choir usually only sings at the end-of-semester concert in Stude Concert Hall at Rice University.
Rehearsals for Prep Choir are held in the Museum District, from 2:15-3:15 p.m. on Sundays.
